The cloud like image was inspired by Corinne Perry(and the restraints are inspired by Samantha's portrayal of anxiety in the woodland's photo). It covers her up, creating a mysterious eerie feel to the photo. The vignette also adds to this, as well as creating a darker feel to it. It makes the person appear more trapped than she already is in the stocks. Stocks were use to humilate people in previous eras. It is used to convey how the person feels attacked by those around them. The use of the red petals contrast against the black and white of the stocks, which creates an interesting image. The petals are infact chrysanthemum petals. Chrystanthemum's can be viewed with lots of different meanings. More often than not, they are positive. Red ones generally mean new found friendship that is long lasting. However by using petals it shows broken up friendship - perhaps due to the feeling she is being "attacked" and "trapped" by them which is inferred by the use of the stocks. They can also be viewed as flowers that imply death, and by using this inference the petals imply that the person feels that they want to die. They opacity it low for the petals other wise the colour and apperance of them becomes rather overwhelming in comparison to the rest of the photo. The texture is rough in contrast to the fog that covers the person. This potentially implies that the person is more fragil than average, and therefore suffers alot. It also helps create fascinating photo.
